As a birthday present in 2019, my daughter took me to her favorite spot to watch the sunrise in San Francisco, atop Corona Heights Park. We bought coffee and pastries and headed up in the dark on a September morning. We spent most of the morning looking east, watching the sun come up over the east bay. After the sun crested the hills, we turned around towards Twin Peaks, one of the tallest summits, and saw the morning light reflecting in the windows above the city.
