I build my shrines with admitted irreverence, but as a devotee of beauty and amazing grace. No matter where I’ve gone in the world, I am most drawn to the religious spaces and everything they tell me about the culture, the people, about art, about God. My love of Mexico inspires these shrines: every Cathedral is a dazzling kaleidoscope of unabashed passion. The miraculous, the macabre, and the majestic. I excavate snippets of my experiences and curiosities from the treasure troves of collected ideas and images I store, and arrange them. I am also moved in these collage paintings by the command and call of love, and by art and beauty, whimsey, wonder, and answered prayers.
