Photographed in Brera, Milan, at the beginning of a year away from home, Unfamiliar Light explores the uncertain sense of belonging that accompanies a new beginning. A city familiar from earlier visits takes on a different character when it becomes a place to live.
Dark walls enclose the street, while light draws the eye towards the figures and buildings beyond. This movement through shadow towards brightness echoes the emotional distance between arriving somewhere and beginning to feel at home.
