ARTIST’S STATEMENT
To encounter firsthand the power of returning light as experienced in northern Canada, was a powerful moment with profound consequences to my painting practice. The clarity of vision, the intensity of colour was striking as the sun revealed the snow-covered rocky landscape. As daylight lengthened, the sun reaching higher in the sky, a new energy, a new vision emerged. I strove for simpler, cleaner compositions, using a vibrant colour palette. Eliminate unnecessary details, find the essence, the soul of this unique northern landscape. Revealing the “voice” of the north unencumbered.
