"Sigh of Relief" captures the enchanting essence of a mermaid embarking on a transformative journey, beautifully rendered on canvas. The painting tells a tale of liberation and renewal as the mermaid gracefully navigates uncharted waters, exuding a palpable sense of relief. The artist skillfully portrays the moment when the mermaid breaks free from the constraints of her oceanic realm, symbolizing the courage to embrace change and chart a new course.
The color palette chosen for this masterpiece reflects the ethereal nature of the underwater world, with hues of cerulean, turquoise, and iridescent touches creating a mesmerizing backdrop. The mermaid's flowing tresses and iridescent scales shimmer with a luminous quality, capturing the play of light beneath the ocean's surface. A soft, golden glow bathes the scene, conveying a sense of warmth and optimism.
"Sigh of Relief" invites viewers to witness the mermaid's emancipation, encouraging them to connect with their own moments of liberation and self-discovery. The painting serves as a visual ode to the courage required to venture into the unknown, reminding us that, like the mermaid, we, too, can find solace and excitement in embracing new beginnings.
Asmin weaves together the untamed beauty of nature with the vibrant tapestry of human
emotions, creating a harmonious symphony on the canvas that reflects the profound interplay
between the external world and the intricate landscape of her inner self.
Born and educated in Istanbul, Turkey, Asmin's artistic odyssey began at the Istanbul Academy
of Fine Arts, where she honed her skills in technical drawing from 2011 to 2013. However, her
insatiable curiosity and multidimensional outlook on life led her to pursue a bachelor’s degree
in economics at Istanbul University from 2014 to 2018.
The pivotal moment in Asmin's life arrived when she decided to expand her horizons and
embrace the challenges of adapting to a new country. This transformative experience became
the cornerstone of "Roots in Transition," a collection of evocative art pieces that delve into the
daily life experiences of a young woman navigating the complexities of a foreign land –
Vancouver, Canada.
Each piece in the exhibition serves as a visual diary, capturing the nuances of Asmin's emotional
landscape as she grapples with the ebb and flow of change. Her creations' colours, textures, and
forms mirror the diverse emotions encountered during this journey – from the excitement of
new beginnings to the nostalgia for the familiar roots left behind. Asmin's art becomes a
conduit, allowing viewers to empathize with the universal themes of adaptation, resilience, and
the delicate dance between nature and human emotion.
Currently pursuing an MBA at the University of Canada West, Asmin continues to evolve as an
artist, drawing inspiration from the intersection of her academic pursuits and her artistic
endeavours. "Roots in Transition: Emotions in Nature" is a testament to Asmin Pulas' ability to
translate personal experiences into a universally resonant visual language.
