Brent Andrew Doty

Based in Toronto’s East End (Beaches), my work is rooted in the Serialist medium, a unique artistic process I developed during my thesis year at OCAD. This approach allows me to weave together history, research, storytelling, and intricate detail, creating visually compelling and thought-provoking pieces.

Whether you’re a collector, curator, or art enthusiast, my work offers a fresh perspective that blends intellect & humour with artistry. Let’s connect and bring inspiring, meaningful art into your space.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

Brent Andrew Doty is an internationally recognized artist whose groundbreaking Serialist paintings have been showcased in private and corporate collections worldwide. Including two major works in Tony Hawks, San Diego, office. His work has been exhibited globally, with a major highlight being the inclusion of his Vincent Serialist portrait with the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.

The Serialist Method

Brent’ unique approach—Serialist painting—constructs a primary image entirely from meticulously selected and cut & pasted secondary images. This technique creates visually complex narratives, where meaning emerges through the historical and contextual juxtaposition of these elements.

For example, his portrait of Donald Trump, composed entirely of images of Pinocchio, transforms into Chump Guevara, aka The Liar in Chief. Each Serialist piece is an intricate study in history, research, storytelling, while interjecting humour with artistic precision.

An Artistic Vision Without Limits

With every new Serialist painting, Brent pushes the boundaries of this method—conducting deeper research, refining intricate details, and expanding the possibilities of visual storytelling. His work invites viewers to engage with layered meanings, offering both intellectual depth and aesthetic impact.

As his art continues to reach collectors and exhibitions worldwide, Brent’ Serialist paintings stand as a testament to the power of innovative storytelling in contemporary art.
