Acrylic, copper leaf on canvas.

24x12"

12”x 24” on stretched canvas with acrylic paint and copper leaf, framed in a beech wood deep frame, these little birds bring joy.
I have these Columbines in my garden and every spring I wait with baited breath to see which colours I will have. I love hummingbirds of all kinds, and always keep my eyes open anywhere I go in case I am lucky enough to spend time observing one. They are delicate but incredibly resilient and strong, flying tremendous distances every day. In Native North American culture, hummingbirds are seen as healers and bringers of love, good luck and joy. In Central America, they are a sign of love and will bring love to the person who spots them. Hummingbirds alone have the ability to fly moving their wings in the pattern of an infinity symbol (the figure 8). Hummingbirds also symbolize great courage, determination, flexibility and adaptability.
