Acrylic on wood.

30x30x1.50"

This piece is a reproduction of a board game cover from 1905, as saved from an antique collectors' magazine, written approximately 40 years ago. The article was about the highly collectable games and game covers, due to their macabre humour and appeal.
The grim imagery of an ancient city, set against a starry night sky worked beautifully as a silhouette background for the personified "Man in the Moon". Completed with a gorgeous painted faux "frame" of gold trim and stars, this piece is a one-of-a-kind rare glimpse into unique early 20th century pastimes.
From my Moody Moon series, as seen originally at Jordan Art Gallery, in Jordan Station, Ontario, near Niagara on the Lake and the Escarpment.
