Quill on scratchboard (framed).

11.25x11.25"

Created at the Farm Studio artist residency in Andore, India.

A handmade piece on scratchboard, where a metal quill is used to scrape the black ink surface to reveal the white ceramic layer underneath. Shape, texture, and colour of the animals are all described by the intensity of the scratch with the quill, what direction, and how much I go over the surface.

Sorella is a captivating diptych that explores the concept of sisterhood, capturing the essence of two entities that share a profound connection while maintaining distinct identities. The black and white palette emphasizes the stark contrast between the shapes, yet their fluid, organic forms mirror each other in a harmonious dance. The textured surface adds depth, inviting viewers to feel the energy and emotions embedded within each stroke. Despite their differences, the paintings resonate together, embodying the idea that even in their individuality, they are intrinsically linked—alike, but uniquely different.
