Scratchboard and India Ink
10x10"
NATURE'S WORLD utilizes strategic and intentional scraping and scratching off of the black ink surface layers to reveal a white clay surface beneath and images that figure prominently of the rabbit, the Blue Jay ,the male and female cardinals and the White-tailed deer. Three dimensional visuals are achieved within this scratchboard medium, by employing sharp tools to create markings, crosshatchings, and hatchings that contribute to realistic dynamic expression. In manipulating relevant India ink tones, the narrative for realism is further enhanced.
I am a proud recipient of the Jaime Simmons Memorial Award as a graduate of the Visual and Digital Arts program at Humber College. Sheridan College has also contributed to my artistic training with a Certificate in Illustration. Membership in a number of art organizations enables me to remain contemporary. Exhibitions in locations such as Toronto, Ohio, British Columbia and Vienna have allowed my art to be introduced to a wider audience. Volunteering my services in workshops, art events and ArtReach programs have assisted me in engaging with the public and the art community in meaningful ways. I support accessibility in the creative arts and opportunities that allow for art to be appreciated by everyone.
