Achieving equilibrium means feeling mentally and emotionally balanced while in a state of discomfort. It may involve being comfortable with one's body, feeling secure in the chosen environment, and not experiencing significant discomfort or self-consciousness in one's current state. It's about finding a sense of peace and acceptance, regardless of societal expectations or personal insecurities.
The point in life is to find equilibrium in what is inherently unstable. -- Pierre Reverdy
Born and raised in midwestern Ontario, and creative kid in a hockey community.
I bounced in and out of college for animation and design, ending up completing college in Illustration and Graphic Design.
I finally left small-town Ontario for the big city in 1995 and entered the workforce in newspaper design for major Canadian newspapers, then moved to the Graphic Design Agency world where I still bounce in and out of for work.
The painting bug bit me in my late 30s and have been working at making a career out of it ever since.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I am an emerging figurative painter working with a unique style that I call Pixelism, creating vibrantly beautiful, large-scale paintings that are original and spellbinding.
My passion lies in creating luminous figures that bring glimpses of unabashed sensuality into reality. Every "body" in my body of work is an homage to the feminine form's beauty, power, and grace. It's my privilege as an artist --especially now-- to give voice to the layered complexities that make us human. What makes us shy? What gives us strength? What vulnerability looks like.
To me, that's beauty and that is art.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
My paintings have been exhibited in cities worldwide, including Toronto, Miami, London, New York, San Francisco, and Dallas.
I've been featured in Fuse Magazine, Spencer Magazine, named Art Business News top 40 artists, and was the recipient of the Spotlight award at Spectrum/Red Dot Miami Art Fair 2019.
