Hello! My name is Vanessa and I'm from Montréal. I love to talk about myself as a Canadian cause I've travelled a lot in the country and It's not done yet! Art was always present in my life somewhere but I've never had enough confidence in myself to go for it and be expose. Everything changed when I finally find my true passion as an artist and this is the mix between collage and paint! I finally realize that I have something that people love like I do. When I was approach for my first artshow I was so stressed about being seen but the people was curious and in love with my work so it makes me feel that maybe it's possible and I will never hide myself in the basement anymore! My art is fascinating and done to be seen.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I am a self-taught artist who loves combining materials together to give texture and depth to my works. I am fascinated by the research surrounding a work. This is often the longest creative process as well as the search for materials. I love revisiting historical and classic characters, comics or even animals and taking them to another level. I work mostly with acrylic paint but also with paper, gold leafs, ink, fabric, charcoal and more to give personality to my creations. It is not uncommon to observe one of my paintings and be able to see new details each time. You have to look at them from several angles in order to notice all the attention paid to them.
