In this oil painting, I've captured a moment of introspection, where the boundaries between the tangible and the ethereal blur. I've poured emotion into each stroke, creating a canvas that speaks of the human experience—contemplation, solace, and the yearning for something beyond. It's a piece that invites the observer to pause and resonate with the universal language of emotion, infusing any space with a touch of soulful reflection.
Joanna Aslanian received her bachelor's degree from Cal Poly Humboldt and her Master's degree from Adler University. She current lives and works in the suburbs of Chicago, IL.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I am an artist, therapist, and art therapist. My work reflects this by highlighting the psychological impact of art through depictions of emotional vulnerability.
Working with acrylic and oil paint on canvas, I create imagery that exposes my own vulnerability through the revealing nature of art-making. Viewers are invited to find consolation and solidarity from the universality of these human emotions—and in doing so, unveil the meaning and beauty derived through connection with others.
