Margaret Stawicki is a Polish Canadian, contemporary artists based in Mississauga. Her work is not representational, it is rather a bit abstracted. She likes to create illusion of vast empty spaces, with somewhat symbolic elements to convey absents, isolation and memory and her paintings can be described as modern or narrative, emotional, energetic, and imbalanced.
Stawicki is primary concern with human emotions, creating impression in relation to her personal journey. Most of her work illustrates the choices we make, and the personal interpretations of our lives as we experience life and the passing of time.

I like spaces without horizons. They represent vast possibilities in our life. Without horizon there is no border, there is no interruption to our journey. And I like the road; to me the road has a powerful presence suggesting the conscious or accidental decisions we make in our lives.
Most of my paintings illustrate these feelings of empty, meditated landscape and the quest for peace. Among this vast landscape I often position a little figure finding its way, walking, moving towards unspecified better
