I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Lethbridge. I studied studio art and graduated in 2010 with a focus on painting. I have called Calgary home since 2019.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I create paintings with an interest in our history, as told through folklore, fairy tales and myths. I am often exploring concepts of memory and cultural identity, how the sum of our values can be recorded in what we choose to remember or forget. I'm fascinated by folklore for it's oral storytelling origins, how our memory (both individual and collective) is not a static concrete thing, but shifting and evolving. Not even the bones of a story can hold up to the passing of time and generations of retelling; evolving depending on the situation, the story teller and the listener.
