I am so inspired by the Aurora in Alberta. These northern lights make such an interesting glow at night. This painting is an exaggerated version of my artistic view of Northern lights. I have used metallics to give this Aurora a bit more glow.

This piece is created out of inspiration from our trip to Elbow falls, Alberta. The day was beautiful and a few clouds hanging around in interesting patterns. I noticed some rocks and the standing water had a unique colourful moss growing over it and some trees leaning on each other and hanging on for dear life. I had to paint it. These Hollyhocks are created in Plein Air. We never planted the seeds and yet the resilience of nature started to sprout. I painted these in my yard. I love irises in general and especially this is a beautiful reminder of Van Gogh in my own style. This piece is textured as well. Pallet knife was used for creating this work. The colours are so soft and yet bright. It’s so pleasing to the eyes.
