Acrylic on wood.
36x36x2"
This painting is a continuation of my piece "Oro". I wanted to add a more dynamic quality to the work by including more color which was a step away from my monochromatic tendencies. This painting's title comes from my love of nature and the verdant gradations of green that can be experienced in early spring. The metaphysical concept of the work is in using color to represent the subtle changes in experience that goes on at a subconscious level. The eye can be drawn to certain areas of the painting or certain shades of color depending on the mood of the viewer.
I am a Los Angeles based self-taught artist. My practice involves a combination of conceptualization and abstraction that has largely to do with the nature of reality and how our mind perceives reality. I am represented by Revealed Gallery in Charleston South Carolina and have had a pop-up exhibition this past spring at a local coffee shop and currently exploring opportunities on a grander scale to showcase my work to the public.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
My practice focuses on a conceptual framework in which painting is used to convey the energy and metaphysics of the universe. Each painted is much like a meditative device that can be used to charge a space or to trigger the divine consciousness within the viewer. The fact that our consciousness constructs reality is very important in understanding anything in the world. For that reason my work seeks to inspire introspection in the vast nature of the self. From that place of deep knowing we can all come to see the world as a wonderful and miraculous experience we call life.
My work has followed the philosophic insights of Minimalism and Opt Art, yet extrapolated from both camps by focusing on the spiritual, metaphysical and psychological aspects of the human experience.
