When I created this work, it started off as an exploration of colour and balance. But as it progressed I started to feel something else unfolding as well. I started to sense the vibration of the colours. To me it became rooted in nature.

Everything around us and all throughout the universe is vibrating and constantly in motion. Even if somethings appear to be still, they are in fact in motion, resonating, and vibrating at various frequencies. So, in fact, all of nature vibrates. If you spend time in nature and learn to listen, you can feel those vibrations and hear nature sing.

My focus is on the human subject. Through my portraiture I am exploring emotional states while trying to capture a mystical quality. This work was inspired by Botticelli's, "Birth of Venus". So in keeping with that I simply called her, "Venus".

A stunning sea turtle lights up the lagoon with its vibrant colors. Floating up to the surface of the water, magical light from the day above the sea highlights and reflects off of the impressive turtle.

To me storms can be beautiful. I love to be inside and listen to the wind and rain hitting the roof. The clouds formations, so beautiful and the stillness. Then after the storm has passed the fresh, damp air to inhale. This is what I was thinking when I was painting, Storm Over Golden Valley.
